Meet The Chaplains

Paul Bricknell: Executive Director

Paul is an ordained pastor. He has 15 years experience as a youth pastor working with teens and families. Paul received his Master of Divinity from Western Seminary in Portland, OR. He and his wonderful wife, Elizabeth, have 3 children. Paul is also the Lead Pastor of Rivertown Church. He has a heart for community care and discipleship.

Doug Fields: Lead Chaplain

Doug is an ordained Southern Baptist Pastor who is has been serving as a full time/Salaried Chaplain with Cowlitz Chaplaincy since 2012. Doug has a Masters of Divinity Degree with a concentration in Pastoral Care from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in N.C. He also has a certificate in Pastoral Counseling from Virginia Baptist School of Pastoral Care. Doug has experience as a professional hospital chaplain, pastoral counselor and as a volunteer firefighter and rescue worker. Doug holds a Senior Chaplain status with International Conference of Police Chaplains and is a graduate of the Police & Fire Chaplains Academy held at the Washington State Criminal Justice Academy in Burien. He also has training in Crisis Intervention, Bereavement Intervention, and Critical Incident Stress Management. Doug is married to a wonderful wife(Laura) and has two awesome young children. Doug resides in Longview.

Mario Gambaro: Staff Chaplain

Mario is an ordained Southern Baptist Elder/Minister who has been serving as a Chaplain since 2009. Mario has degrees in Criminal Justice, Health Science and Nursing. He has also attended Golden Gate Seminary. Mario holds a Master Chaplains status with the International Conference of Police Chaplains and is a graduate of the Police & Fire Chaplains Academy held at the Washington State Justice Academy in Burien. Mario has received extensive training in Crisis Intervention, Critical Incident Stress Management, Sex Crimes Advocacy, Domestic Violence Resolution, Hostage Negotiation and Homicide Scene Management. Mario has also served as commissioned police officer with the Longview Police Department and is a graduate of the Washington State Police Academy. In addition, He has also served as certified Washington State Fire Instructor and as a Designated Mental Health professional providing crisis care in the community. Mario is married to his wonderful wife (Nancy) and resides in Longview.

Ray Orr: Staff Chaplain

Ray Orr is an ordained chaplain through the Freedom Community Church and Revolution Resource Center in Vancouver, WA. Since 2008 Ray has served as a leader of Men’s Integrity Groups, Care Team Leader, Pre-Marital and Pastoral Counselor. He is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management and Crisis Intervention. In 2015 Ray and his wife Jean moved to Woodland, WA. They are blessed with a daughter and two grandchildren.

Ray Orr: Staff Chaplain

He is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management and Crisis Intervention. In 2015 Ray and his wife Jean moved to Woodland, WA. They are blessed with a daughter and two grandchildren.

Grant Wiltbank: Reserve Chaplain

Grant is a licensed Baptist Chaplain. He retired, as a Lieutenant, from Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One in 2017, after serving for 33 years. Before this Grant owned and ran his Ambulance companies, (Mercy Ambulance out of Spokane and Seattle). Previously to this, he was a medic in the US Army, and paramedic in civilian life.

Grant is a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains, and is a graduate of the Police and Fire Chaplains Academy, held at the Washington State Criminal Justice Academy in Burien. He is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management and Disaster Chaplaincy. Grant is also trained in domestic violence victim support, sexual assault victim support as well as IAFF peer support. Grant is married to Dawn.

Dawn Wiltbank: Reserve Chaplain

Dawn is a licensed Baptist Chaplain. Dawn has spent half her life in the UK, and half in Australia (where she graduated from Seminary with a Bachelor of Theology Degree, and a Diploma in Ministry in 2002). She has been working in Pastoral Care in chuches, and on university campuses (especially with international students) as a Chaplain, for over 20 years.

Dawn’s Diploma in Ministry included Pastoral Counseling, Public speaking, Pastoral ministry, Understanding Grief, Cross Cultural Communication, Understanding Other Faiths. Dawn is a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains, and is a graduate of the Police and Fire Chaplains Academy, held at the Washington State Criminal Justice Academy in Burien. She is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management, and Disaster Chaplaincy. Dawn is also trained in domestic violence victim support, sexual assault victim support as well as hospital chaplaincy. Dawn is married to Grant.

Mike Velilla: Reserve Chaplain

Mike was born and raised in upstate New York’s Hudson Valley. He graduated from Wallkill High School and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. Mike served in the Navy as a Fire Controlman for a decade. He went on three Westpac deployments including Desert Storm. He was also attached to the Navy’s Deserter Apprehension Unit for three years. Mike came to know the Lord in a missile control room while deployed in the Persian Gulf. While stationed in Bremerton, WA, he lived in a Christian Serviceman’s Center and became involved in street evangelism.

Mike is a father of two grown kids. One currently serving in the Navy. Mike works for a Cardiovascular Software company as a systems administrator and salesforce developer. He is attending Nazarene Bible College in pursuit of ordination through the Church of the Nazarene. He completed the International Conference of Police Chaplains Academy in 2019.

Tom Haan: Reserve Chaplain

Tom is an ordained Christian Reformed Pastor who has served four congregations. Tom has been serving as a Chaplain since 2012. Tom has a Master of Divinity Degree from Calvin Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. Tom is also a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. Tom is a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains and is a graduate of the Police & Fire Chaplains Academy held at the Washington State Criminal Justice Academy in Burien. Tom has also completed training in Crisis Intervention and Critical Incident Stress Management. Tom previously worked as a hospital and hospice chaplain, is a published author on the subject of crisis ministry and has operated a counseling practice for several years beginning in 2001. Tom is married to his wonderful wife (Marilyn) and resides in Longview.
